Principle 5: Implementation

Ensure the gender and JEDI investing approach has widespread buy-in and accountability is built in. This could involve a public commitment with clear goals, allocation volumes, and actions. It could also consider underlying policies and processes like recruitment, retention, and succession.

Actions: Investment Process

Shift the investment policy with clear gender and JEDI goals

Demonstrate the gender and JEDI investment commitment by outlining how allocation could: i) shift away from extractive sectors, ii) align with racial justice goals, iii) target racial justice funds and opportunities. You might want to design a targeted investment thesis around racial/social justice goals. These goals should be outlined in the investment policy statement, and other related materials.

Actions: Organisation

Create an inclusive culture

Build a more inclusive culture of belonging by providing safe sharing spaces and offering anti-bias, anti-racism training, and training in how to address everyday microaggressions.

Articulate the importance of JEDI to one’s organisation and how it aligns with core values.

This might involve writing a statement with specific goals and actions. Identify a core group of cross-functional senior leadership and other team members to set priorities and drive progress.
